DescriptionPiano 3205.jpg |
English: Clementi square piano (1829). This piano was made by a company founded by Frederick William Collard and Muzio Clementi. It has a compass of nearly six octaves. The naturals are topped with two piece ivory veneers, with ebony for the sharps and flats. The name-board just behind, is of rose wood, with fretwork panels either side. The rest of outfacing surfaces appears to be mostly of mahogany, although much of this is quite likely to be veneer. Its folding music rest is still in situ. It has four reeded turned legs with brass castors, yet there appear to another two mounting blocks along the front, suggesting that it originally had six legs. |
