Italiano: Antonio Piccinni (Trani 1864 – Roma 1920) Un ricordo della Via Appia

Acquaforte originale Misure mm lastra mm 290 × 212, foglio 375 × 273

Lastra incisa nel 1878 e che avrebbe dovuto essere inserita ne “L’eau-forte en 1879. Souvenirs de Rome”, album composto da dodici fogli numerati tutti incisi da Piccinni, pubblicato a Parigi dalla vedova Cadart. Nonostante le scritte nei margini (esemplare della Biblioteca Panizzi) confermino la destinazione, l’album pubblicato non contiene questo soggetto. Con ogni probabilità si verificò una sostituzione dopo aver già tirato qualche esemplare del foglio. Impressione eccellente del I/II stato prima delle lettere, stampata su carta japon vergellata fissata sui due angoli superiori a un cartoncino bianco spesso; pubblicata dalla vedova Cadart su “Trente eaux-forts par trente artistes” nel 1879.
