If one so de-sires, he may continue on the third rail system until Braintreeis reached and return to Boston via the N. Y., N. H. and H. Rail-way, or by trolley through Quincy and Neponset. Just across the inner bay from Nantasket and reached bysteamer, lies Crow Point, formerly known as Downers Land-ing. The shore is lined with many summer cottages and thedrives from this point are very picturesque and beautiful. At the head of the harbor is Hingham, a quaint old town withmany pleasant drives and fine views. From Prospect Hill one ofthe grandest and most comprehensive panoramas stretches out onevery hand, embracing shore and headlands, harbor and shipping.The old meeting house, undoubtedly the oldest in New England.and still occupied by the First Society, was built in or about 1660.It is a two-story edifice, with a pyramidal roof, from the centre ciwhich rises a grotesque belfry and spire.

126 GUIDE TO BOSTON. All of the towns and landings on the South Shore thus far men-tioned may be reached by trolley and also by the N. Y., N. H. &H. Railway. South of Nantasket, on the mainland is Cohasset; itmay be reached from Nantasket by carriage drive over the Jerusa-lem Road. It is reached from Boston by the N. Y., N. H. & H.Railway. Off Cohassets rocky shore is the famous MinotsLedge Lighthouse, which was built in i860 to replace one de-stroyed by a storm in 1851. Scituate is close to Cohasset, and likethe latter is reached by the Jerusalem Road and the N. Y., N. H.& H. Railway. A few miles beyond we come to Marshfield, thetown where Daniel Webster had his summer home; it is a quietshore town, enjoyable for its fishing, hunting and yachting.
