Italiano: Ulexite, anche conosciuta come TV rock per le sue insolite caratteristiche ottiche. Le fibre agiscono come fibre ottiche trasmettendo la luce lungo la loro lunghezza per riflessione interna. Quando un pezzo di cristallo viene tagliato con facce piatte e levigate perpendicolari all'orientamento delle fibre, visualizzerà come proiettata sulla faccia superiore un'immagine di una superficie posta al di sotto del suo altro lato.
L'effetto fibra ottica è il risultato della polarizzazione della luce in raggi lenti e veloci all'interno di ciascuna fibra, la riflessione interna del raggio lento e la rifrazione del raggio veloce nel raggio lento di una fibra adiacente. English: Ulexite stone, also known as TV rock due to its unusual optical characteristics. The fibers act like optical fibers, transmitting light along their length by internal reflection. When a piece of crystal is cut with flat, polished faces perpendicular to the orientation of the fibers, it will display an image of a surface placed adjacent to its other side projected on the upper face. The fiber optic effect is the result of the polarization of light into slow and fast rays within each fiber, internal reflection of the slow ray, and refraction of the fast ray into the slow ray of an adjacent fiber. |
