| Description |
English: Piglets rooting in riverine woodland alongside Ober Water, New Forest These two piglets were part of a larger group looking for food in the riverine woodland alongside Ober Water. The soil here is moist and rich following seasonal flooding of the river. The pigs find it easy to dig in, although the larger ones have had their snouts ringed to prevent excessive damage to the Forest. These piglets will have to be put back on their owner's land at the end of the pannage season (26 November this year) - only pregnant pigs, known as "privileged sows", are allowed out on the Forest all year round. |
