Description
English: View of Pikes Peak from window of American Airlines Flight 416, a Boeing 727, enroute to LAX at 33,000 feet altitude. A portion of the Pikes Peaks Highway is visable at lower right of photo starting at approximately Mile Post 12 and ending at Mile Post 19 at aft edge of plane's wing. The highway is site of various races, including runners, bicyclists, motorcycles and many classes of automobiles, with the most famous the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb held annually since 1916. The road is currently all paved but when photo taken on 16 October 1977 it consisted of dirt and gravel. (Scanned from 35mm Ektachrome ED200 slide)
