This north-westerly facing photograph of the Upper Dove Valley was taken from an artificial mound that was once the motte of Pilsbury Castle; a mott-and-bailey structure. Running along the valley floor is a public footpath running between Pilsbury village (behind the viewpoint) and Crowdecote (ahead). The watercourse is the River Dove and at this point forms the boundary between Staffordshire (to the left) and Derbyshire (to the right). The peak on the left in the distance is Parkhouse Hill (SK079665). For more information see the Pilsbury Castle web site: http://www.pilsburycastle.org.uk/ To view the first photograph in the sequence click here: https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1713803. - - - For photographs of Parkhouse Hill see these images by: Eirian Evans, 599019, Peter Barr, 1460847, Peter Barr, 1460833, Martin Clark, 2364 and Paul Ashwin 6712.
