(February 17, 2012) Musician 1st Class Cory Parker sings a spiritual during a noontime concert in the Arleigh Burke Theater at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. The performance was part of the Navy Band's "Pioneers of Navy Music: A History of African Americans in the Navy Music Program." The Navy Band is in the process of celebrating Black History Month by presenting a series of concerts at the U.S. Navy Memorial commemorating the musical and cultural contributions of African-American composers and performers to the U.S. Navy and the nation.
