English: Pit (dis) Marked on the Explorer series is this disused chalk pit just off the Winfrith Drove. It may well have been used for extracting chalk, although its location is curiously random, suggesting it may be an old bomb crater. There are many more of this disused pits in the area, and there are also limekilns, but not here. |
