English: Plaque for an army dog at James Stephens Barracks in Kilkenny. Inscription reads "Here lies Lion the regimental dog 1st Bn 24th Regiment who died Octr 1884. This faithful creature followed the fortunes of the battalion through the Kafir and Zulu wars of 1877-78-79 and was severely wounded at the Battle of Isandhlwana"
