The dinner itselfand the floral decorations were remarkable for good taste and quality.The first speaker was Mr. J. E. Chilberg, vice president of the Scandi-navian American Bank, and president of the Alaska-Yukon Expositionwho, after bidding us welcome to Seattle, regretted the fact that ourstay took place on a. Sunday, intimating that he and his associates hadintended to profit largely financially by an opportunity to sell miningstocks and other securities to the guests from Chicago. Other toastswere responded to by Mayor Martin R. Carlson, of Moline, GovernorEberhart, and Henry S. Henschen. Altogether, the kindness and hospitality shown us by our friendsin Seattle will never be forgotten. The following morning at 9 oclock our party boarded the steamerfor Vancouver, a number of our Seattle friends accompanying us to thedock. (iO I
