Description
English: Poland, Michel I; Sanabria 501, mint. 1921 25m orange semi-official issue.

Stamp issued by the Aero-Targ Company, in agreement with the Polish Ministry of Post & Telegraph. Aero-Targ stamps had to be bought for airmail in addition to the normal express postage rate, payable by usage of regular Polish stamps.

The stamp was designed by Wilhelm Rudy (initials W.R. on the stamps) and crudely lithographed. Perforated 11.25 but also known imperforated. This 25mk value shows Icarus against Poznan. Attached to each stamp was an advertising label, inscribed T.A.B.R.O.M.I.K., for vodka factory TAdeusz BROnislaw MIKołajczyk. Forged stamps are known.

The first flights from Poznan to Gdansk and to Warsaw were on 29 May 1921. The first return flight from Warsaw to Poznan was on 31 May 1921. There were daily return flights until 16 June 1921. A special winged postmark was used from May 29 thru 16 June 1921 at the Poznan Fair Flights. Postmarks with dates after 16 June 1921 are fake.
