Pollinators Welcome |
Description |
500px provided description: The bee balm plant is a North American native. Also known by its botanical name of Monarda, its fragrant blossoms attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinating insects. This plant also has a long history of medicinal uses by Native American tribes. The common name of "bee balm" is due to the use of the herb for soothing bee stings. North American tribes in the eastern United States used it to ease the pain of mild abrasions and bee stings by crushing the leaves of the plant and rubbing on the skin.
