Il Sonno coronato di papaveri, simbolo della morte tranquilla, conduce Sommariva al luogo del riposo
Il defunto Sommariva, accompagnato per mano dal Sonno, si rivolge verso il figlio che tiene arrotolato il mano il documento con le ultime volontà del padre. Gli raccomanda di avere in massima cura le Arti, delizia della vita del defunto genitore.
Il figlio di Sommariva con affettuosa venerazione significa al padre che il suo desiderio verrò esaudito e si rivolge alla Scultura
La Scultura, confortata dal figlio del defunto, riprende in mano lo scalpello caduto alla notizia della morte del Sommariva, suo protettore
Il Genio della Morte spegne con il soffio una lampada e chiude con la mano un'urna: spegne la vita del Sommariva ma veglia sulla famiglia
