Français : Pompiers en alerte en 1930
« Vite, au feu! Les pompiers sortent en trombe de la caserne de pompiers no 9. Située rue Saint-Amable, au coin de la rue D’Artigny, cette caserne a été construite en 1901, d’après les plans des architectes Staveley et Staveley, et sera démolie en 1968. À Québec, c’est en 1866, année du grand feu de Saint-Sauveur, qu’on implante le «registre des alarmes». Cette année-là, on crée le Département du feu de la Cité de Québec qui met en place les premiers postes de pompiers dotés de personnel permanent. L’aqueduc et les bornes-fontaines distribuent de l’eau depuis 1854, mais les pompes à bras demeureront le seul moyen de la projeter sur le feu jusqu’à l’arrivée de la première pompe à vapeur en 1873. C’est en 1921 que la Prévention des incendies deviendra un service municipal. Les chevaux, quant à eux, sont utilisés par les pompiers pour la dernière fois en 1938. » – Jacques Boutet, Société historique de Québec
