Implantada sobre o rio Ovil, a Ponte de Esmoriz está enquadrada numa paisagem marcada ainda por uma forte ruralidade. Tal como no caso da Panchorra, em Resende, a Ponte de Esmoriz reflete a utilização tardia de modelos construtivos bastante remotos. Constituída por um único arco de volta perfeita, insere-se no conjunto das travessias viárias associadas à importância religiosa e económica do vizinho Mosteiro de Ancede.
