English: Poplar Baths boiler house chimney As a contrast with all the images of modern buildings and infrastructure in this grid square here is a glimpse of Poplar's heritage, the boiler house chinmney of Poplar Baths on the south side of East India Dock Road. The baths themselves closed in 1988, and there are various proposals being mooted on how the building could be re-used. The original baths was built here in 1852, but entrirely replaced in 1934.
The alleyway leads up to the East India Dock Road, just west of All Saints DLR station, which itself is beyond the wall to the right. |
