| Description |
Magyar: Popovics Lőrinc: Szent Borbála. A szobor a MOL Rt. Szegedi Bányászati Üzemének megbízásából és költségén készült, miután pályázatot hirdettek védőszentjük megmintázására. Az alkotó, az eddig nonfiguratív szobrászként ismert szegedi szobrász. A dómszerű alapra állított mészkőhasábból bontakozik ki Szent Borbála bronz alakja. A szoborból szépség, meghittség árad. Jobbját áldó mozdulattal emeli, baljában pedig a tisztaság liliomát tartja maga előtt. A drapéria posztamenssel érintkező része cseppként folyik a hasáb repedésébe. A bronzcsepp a nyersolaj formai megjelenése, amely közvetlenül kapcsolódik Borbála alakjához. A szobor fölállításával rangot kapott a belváros ezen szakasza. |
