Summary edit

Description
English: The subclass Calcaronea produce the amphiblastula larvae. Flagellated cells are present on only half of the larva. Because it is composed of two different regions and because it is hollow, this larval type is known as an "amphiblastula." The hollow amphiblastula larvae of the calcareous sponges invert as they settle onto a surface. The flagellated cells invagentate below the nonflagellated cells to form what will become the spongocoel (central cavity). Syconoid and leconoid body types will form by further invagination of the flagellated cells to form flagellated regions in the canals.
