Railway yard, passenger station and narrow-gauge vehicles, Port Pirie South, in 1909

Summary

edit
Description
English: The railway yard, passenger station and narrow-gauge locomotives and freight and passenger rail vehicles at Port Pirie South, South Australia, in 1909; looking north. Includes workers, a horse employed for shunting, waiting passengers, and horse-drawn vehicles. These railway sidings constituted the first general-traffic railway yard in Port Pirie (the other major sidings being at the lead smelters). The site would be redeveloped as broad-gauge and standard-gauge tracks were laid as part of gauge conversion programs in 1937 and 1970.
