Description Del antiguo monasterio sólo ha llegado a nuestros días la iglesia y tres arcadas de la sala capitular. Fue fundado en el S X por los condes Don Gonzalo y Doña Teresa, fundadores también de San Lorenzo de Carboeiro. En un principio fue monasterio de monjes y luego pasó a ser de monjas benedictinas. Aparece citado en documentos del S XII y XIII. En el XVI fue incorporado al monasterio compostelano de San Pelayo de Antealtares. La iglesia, debió de construirse aprovechando el esplendor del monasterio, sobre el cenobio primitivo, en la segunda mitad del S XII,. Ha sufrido diversas reformas visibles en el muro meridional, en el interior y en la torre de los pies.
