English: De to navngivne grønlændere, Quiperoq til venstre og Pooq til højre, rejste i 1724 til Danmark. Her skulle de fremme handelens og missionens sag og med kongens tilladelse deltage i en folkefest, hvis højdepunkt blev en regatta gennem byens kanaler med de to grønlændere, der i kajakker padlede foran admiralens båd og kastede fuglespyd efter udsatte ænder. Dobbeltportrættet forestiller dem hjemkommet fra fuglejagt, den ene med fuglespyd og kastetræ, den anden med bue og pil. I baggrunden ses Håbets Ø (det nuværende Illuerunnerit). Billedet blev malet på handelskompagniets bekostning og indgik året efter i Kunstkammeret. Oliemaleri. Mål: 126 x 186 cm. København, 1724. |
