Description

Portrait de Farinelli Oeuvre de Bartolomeo Nazari (Clusone 1693-Milan 1758). Huile sur toile. Londres, Royal College of Music Museum.

Farinelli est le castrat le plus célèbre du XVIIIème siècle. Son vrai nom est Carlo Broschi. Il a été célèbre à Venise dès son jeune âge mais il a ensuite mené une carrière internationale. Un film sur Farinelli a été réalisé par Gérard Corbiau en 1994 pour lequel l'IRCAM a procédé à la reconstitution numérique de sa voix en fusionnant deux voix, celle d'une femme soprano et d'un homme contre-ténor pour atteindre une tessiture de quatre octaves.
