English: This is a full-scale portrait of young Tipu Sultan,attributed by Dariya Daulat Museum,Srirangapatanam to Johan Zoffany,1780. Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore was the ruler of late 18th century Mysuru Kingdom, Karnataka. He was a very successful ruler as he introduced a number of administrative innovations during his rule including a new coinage system and calender,new land revenue system etc.. Tips Sultan used his French trained army in alliance with the French in their struggle with the British.Sadly,he was killed on 4 May, 1799 while defending Seringapatanan in the 4th Anglo-Mysore War. Coming back, Tips Sultan Portrait c 1786 is a Vintage orientalist paintings of India by Johan Zoffany.It is a painting of charming Tipu Sultan at 30 years of age found inside the Daria Daulat Bagh and and is one among the unusual artworks of India.There is one more characteristic feature of this painting.While looking at the painting,we get the perception that the ruler's eyes, body and his shoes are turning towards us on looking it from different angles.One can find this oil painting near the exit of the museum.
