English: Portsmouth's Garden of Hope The plaque reads "Portsmouth's Garden of Hope. Planted after the atrocities of September 11th 2001. Take one moment in time with the wish that hope will always spring eternal." The wall in the background leads off-picture left to Southsea Castle.
I was struck by the fact that there is nothing here except a large lawn and the quadrant-shaped flower bed shown in the photo. I was thinking that this is simply not good enough, but perhaps there is a clue in the inscription. Perhaps the lawn has been planted with bulbs and will be a mass of colour every spring. |
