DescriptionPostcardAmarilloTXHomeOfLeeBivins1919.jpg |
English: Postcard picture of home of Lee Bivins in Amarillo, Texas. Bivins was a busnessman and rancher in Amarillo and built a housing development there, but in 1889, he was living in a makeshift shack. In the late 1890s, saloonkeeper Skid Ellis killed Bivins' brother, Dick, and later Bivins shot at Ellis, wounding him. In 1903 Bivins built this home. He was mayor of Amarillo from 1925 until his death in 1929 (see biography, http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fbi23 ) |
