Summary edit
DescriptionPrecipitation pools below Mynydd Parys - geograph.org.uk - 1180372.jpg |
English: Precipitation pools below Mynydd Parys Here, in the 18th and 19th centuries, mineral-rich water draining from the hillside was collected. Scrap iron was then thrown into the pools to encourage a process of electrolysis leading to the formation of copper oxide which would then be harvested. Periodically, the iron sulphate rich water was allowed to evaporate leaving behind a deposit of yellow ochre (hydrated iron oxide) which was used in the manufacture of paint. |
