Title
English: 7. New Mortar.
Description
English:

Gray stones are surrounded by light brown colored mortar. The stones vary in their shade of gray and their size. A red scaffold is on the right side of the image holding a black and white sign that reads "Gettysburg NMP Warfield House Placing Joints in Stone Wall North PEPC 85531 10-5-20 Smith."

Preservationists point stone walls with mortar that has been matched to the color and aggregate composition of the original mortar. This reddish-brown mortar is also softer than the portland cement it is replacing. This is done to protect the stone walls from further damage.
