Description
English: This memorial is dedicated to William McKinley, 25th President of the US from March 4, 1897 near the end of the Civil War. He was re-elected He was assassinated 6 months later Sept. 14, 1901 in Buffalo NY. Under his leadership, the U.S. was victorious in the 100-day Spanish American War. The Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico were annexed to the US under McKinley. He was shot by "a deranged anarchist" at the Buffalo Pan-American Exposition and died 8 days later. Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System, SPR.968. Sculptor Philip H. Martin, cast by Aubry Brothers Foundry. Located in Metro Center, Court Square Historic District, Springfield, MA.
