Summary edit
DescriptionPrincess Amelia's Bathhouse, Gunnersbury Park - geograph.org.uk - 420128.jpg |
English: Princess Amelia's Bathhouse, Gunnersbury Park In 1760, the Gunnersbury House and Estate were purchased for Princess Amelia, favourite daughter of George II, and also from 1751 the Regent of Richmond Park. She landscaped Gunnersbury Park in the 18th century style, and at this time outdoor bathing was very fashionable. This photograph shows the front of the bathhouse - to the rear is an outdoor bathing grotto, rustic, rocky and overgrown; and in the basement of the building an indoor grotto. |
