Collection History: MAI staff used the grounds surrounding its Research Branch building in the Bronx, New York, for a variety of outdoor displays and educational activities. This photograph by MAI curator William F. Stiles may document such an event since Mrs. Mofsie was well known for her participation in Native cultural activities in New York City, including craft and dance demonstrations.

Description: Mrs. Alvina Mofsie (Winnebago) wearing traditional Seneca clothing, posed in front of the log Seneca cabin (NMAI object number 202211.000) originally built circa 1800 on the Tonawanda Reservation, NY, with bark roof on the grounds of the Research Branch of the Museum of the American Indian/Heye Foundation.
