Notes

Monk Nichiren (1222-1282) was the founder of a major sect of Japanese Buddhism that bears his name. All ten designs are displayed from series which treats major episodes in his life in an essentially historical manner. The series includes some of Kuniyoshi's most memorable landscapes.
