Description

This illustration of a proposed Cleveland City Hall was published as a supplement to the Cleveland Plain Dealer of July 14, 1895. The Beaux Arts design was approved by voters in 1895 for the two northern quadrants of Public Square. The design featured an elliptical arch over Ontario Street. Groundbreaking occurred in June 1895, but construction was abandoned due to protests against building on the public land. Gift of Albert Albano, 2006, purchased from Loganberry Books.
