Español: Mapa de las provincias de San Salvador y San Miguel desde la fundación de la villa de San Miguel en 1530 año en que también se les quitaron la mayoría de encomiendas en el territorio de la nueva provincia por lo cuál los vecinos de San Salvador conquistaron las poblaciónes lencas (ubicadas en el Noreste del actual departamento de San Vicente, actual departamento de Cabañas, y oriente de Chalatenango) y las poblaciones Chortis (ubicadas en el centro y occidente del actual departamento de Chalatenango y en los actuales departamentos hondureños de Ocotepeque y parte de los de Lémpira y Copán) (tanto lencas como chortis eran denominados Chontales por los pipiles), hasta 1534 cuando se quitaron las últimas encomiendas de los vecinos de San Salvador ubicadas dentro del territorio de la Provincia de San Miguel. |
