Description
English: Offene Anfrage. 'Public Question'. One large printed leaf 40x21 cm. Print on one side. German. First published in a newspaper issued in Berlin on the 16th of April, 1854. It was printed independently a few days later. On the bottom of the leaf there is a unique printed request that the leaf be publicized in all public places. This copy is pasted to canvas. Very fine condition.
עברית: שאלה גלויה. מאת רבי שמשון רפאל הירש, נגד ה'סמינר לרבנים' בברסלאו. 1854. ‏OFFENE ANFRAGE. 'שאלה גלויה'. מודפס, דף אחד גדול 40*21 ס"מ. נדפס על צדו האחד של הדף. גרמנית. פורסם לראשונה בעתון שיצא לאור בברלין ביום 16 לאפריל 1854. וכעבור מספר ימים בהמשך חודש אפריל בשנה זו, יצא לאור ככרזה בפני עצמה.

בתחתית הדף נדפסה בקשה מיוחדת לפרסם את הדף בכל מקום צבורי.

ה'סמינר' בברסלאו לימד 'בקורת המקרא', בין מוריו היו כאלו שלימדו תורה שלא בדרך המסורתית. הרב הירש כותב כי לדעתו מלמדים שם אפיקורסות. בראש הסמינר עמד הרב זכריה פרענקל. נגדו, ונגד ספרו 'דרכי המשנה', יצא הרב הירש בנפרד.
