Summary
editDescriptionPulsars in the Milky Way.png |
English: Pulsar map of 706 pulsars from SIMBAD. Top is the galaxy edge-on, bottom is the galaxy face-on. The sun and the galactic center are marked.
http://simbad.cds.unistra.fr/simbad/sim-fsam pulsars were selected with the query otype=pulsar (with pulsar in quotation marks) and then the distance values (first values) were turned into fake parallax. RA and Dec were extracted with the help of an Excel formula. To apply a fixed absolute brightness for all pulsars, a fake apparent magnitude was also used to trick the STIL Dataloader of Gaia Sky: https://gaia.ari.uni-heidelberg.de/gaiasky/docs/master/STIL-loader.html#stil-data-provider The resulting CSV-File was then loaded into Gaia Sky https://zah.uni-heidelberg.de/gaia/outreach/gaiasky Data Credit: CDS SIMBAD Software Credit: ARI/ZAH/Universität Heidelberg/Gaia Sky |
