Unterdessen war der König auch in das Schloß gekommen, der Kater lief ihm entgegen und rief: Eure Majestät sei willkommen in dem Schlosse des Grafen von Carabas." "Wie, Herr Graf," rief der König, "auch dieses Schloß gehört Ihnen? Ich habe mein Leben nichts Schöneres gesehen." Der König war über die guten Eigenschaften des Grafen ganz entzückt und gab ihm seine Tochter zur Frau. Graf und Prinzessin lebten lange Jahre herrlich und in Freuden, der Kater aber wurde ein großer Herr und fing keine Mäuse mehr. = Meanwhile the king had also come into the castle; the cat ran to meet him and proclaimed: "Your Majesty is welcome to the castle of the Count of Carabas." ""How now, Herr Count," cried the king, "this castle also belongs to you? I haven't seen anything more beautiful in all my life." The king was delighted with the count's good qualities and gave him his daughter in marriage. The count and princess lived splendidly and happily for many years, but the cat grew up to be a great lord and caught no more mice.
