English: We are in Putignano (Apulia - Italy) home to the longest Carnival in the world (it is unsurpassed as it starts on December 26th!) and one of the oldest with its 626th edition.

One of the most folkloric rites, perhaps unique in its kind, takes place during the complex phenomenon of "Carnival Thursdays" which can be a maximum of seven and each one is dedicated to a different category of people. However the last one, "u' sciuvdeje di' chrnot" (Thursday of the cuckolds), is dedicated to married men who have been betrayed by their wives (in Italian, a betrayed person is defined as "horned man", that is, with horns!) There is a special Academy of the Horns that meets once a year to establish, in a goliardic atmosphere, who, exactly, is the great horned man of the year (popularly this figure is ambiguous as it can be both the betrayed husband and be an insightful person and recognized as such in his own group).

In any case, the stereoscopic photo just taken and presented here, highlights all the irreverent air that comes out for the entire carnival period. If you come to Putignano and you are told "you are a great horned man" you may have been the target of a big offense, or else of the disclosure of what happened between your wife and another partner or, finally, you have been "victims" of a joke normally accepted if not coveted by the “Putignaners” themselves!
