English: CLASSIFICATION: Mammal, Cercopithecidae

HABITAT: Primary and secondary rainforest, swamp forest; up to 1,500 m high. THREATS: Habitat destruction, hunting. DIET: Fruits (>35%), seeds (>50%), leaves, flowers, insects. ECOLOGY: 1g-multi groups. Group size: 11 - 20 ind.

Putty-nosed Monkeys are arboreal and diumal animals spending most of their time on large branches in the high layers of the rainforest. They live in harems made up of one dominant male, several females and the young.

They offen mix with other species like the Mustached Monkey, the Mona Monkey or other 'Cercopithecidae,

Females first give birth around 5 years-old.
