Summary edit
DescriptionPylon riggers cable layer reassembled.JPG |
English: Cable riggers atop a pylon engaged in adding a data cable wound around the top tower stay cable. The fibre optic data cable is wound on by a travelling machine which rotates a cable drum around the support cable as it goes. This travels under its own power from tower to tower, where it is dismantled, moved across to the opposite side from where it travels on. In the picture the motor unit and separate drum unit have been moved across and reattached to the opposite side of the tower. Temporary crane fixed on top of tower is supporting cable drum unit. Sussex, UK. |
