Description
Deutsch: Eine noch unausgereifte männliche Frühe Adonislibelle (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) im Ahlenmoor, nördliches Niedersachsen. Dieses Individuum wird an Thoraxunterseite (Brustbereich) von Süßwassermilben der Gattung Arrenurus parasitiert.
Das Foto ist Teil einer Sequenz, die den vollständigen Verzehr eines Kleinschmetterlings durch die Libelle zeigt. Die gesamte Fraßzeit beträgt ungefähr 12 Minuten.
English: A teneral male of the Large Red Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) in the Ahlenmoor, a peatland in northern Lower Saxony, Germany. The damselfly is parasitized by water mites (Arrenurus spp.).
The photo is part of a sequence that shows the complete consumption of a micromoth by the damselfly. The entire process takes about twelve minutes.
