Description
English: Southern African Rock Python (Python natalensis)- probably a pregnant female - in front of its burrow in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

This specimen is nearly black. This color change is typical for females of this species during pregnancy and brooding. Additionally the second half of the body of this python seems fat, as if it has some eggs in it. An other hint is the date: 09. 26. 2009. According to Alexander (2007) the season for egg laying is from September to December in the north of Sout Africa.
