Au fil des ans, le quartier Saint-Louis, ci-devant, disparaîtra et, plus tard, l’ensemble conventuel des religieux de Saint-Vincent de Paul, que nous apercevons [au centre] sur cette photographie tel qu’il existait de 1903 à 1938. En 1927, une vingtaine de pères et de frères dirigent et animent le patronage de la côte d’Abraham. L’école accueille 265 écoliers et le patronage jusqu’à 345 enfants et jeunes adultes de 8 à 25 ans, dans l’une des premières œuvres de loisirs de Québec. Pour répondre aux besoins de l’œuvre, François-Xavier Berlinguet avait proposé, en 1889, les plans d’une grande chapelle, inaugurée en janvier 1896, et d’une aile, construite rue Saint-Olivier en 1902. En plus de l’œuvre d’éducation et de loisirs, le patronage de Québec comprend une maison de famille qui loge une cinquantaine d’apprentis et un juvénat pour de futurs religieux qui étudient au Séminaire de Québec. Les habitants de Québec ont souvent admiré les gymnastes et la clique du Patro à l’occasion de nombreuses manifestations. Dans la région, le Patro Saint-Vincent de Québec est à l’origine de deux patros centenaires: Laval et Lévis.
