Summary

edit
Description The South Fairmount neighborhood of Cincinnati was once the city’s Italian enclave, but that was long ago, when the neighborhood was thriving and full of small businesses, historic houses, and many apartment buildings. Many of these buildings stood between Westwood Avenue and Queen City Avenue in the center of the neighborhood, which was once a dense collection of buildings reminiscent of a European mountain village. However, as the neighborhood emptied out and the area was treated more as a pass-through corridor for westside commuters by the city, many buildings were demolished, though some hung on for decades. The recent Lick Run Project has led to the loss of many historic structures, many with improper procedures being followed for historic resources, as with the city’s demolition program of the late 2000s and early 2010s. This house is one of only two historic homes that were spared, and is the only remaining historic building that is still occupied.
