English: Queen Victoria and the City Hall She has reigned imperiously, over the set of public toilets, for 105 years.
Behind is the city hall where the architecture speaks of the affluence of a previous generation was built between 1903 and 1909. The building plays an important role in the life of the city, enabling major events such as those taking place in 2007, the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade. The building housed concerts and exhibitions, and was filled for the visits of Archbishops Desmond Tutu, Rowan Williams and John Sentamu. |
