| Description |
Quincy Market is today a very trendy shopping area. The revitalization and development of this complex is an example of American urban redevelopment that was replicated in other cities across the country. The suburban growth from the 1950s on had reduced urban cores of American cities into empty, decaying carcasses, and had some racist undertones to it due to the "white flight" phenomenon, but between growing traffic jams on suburban commutes and younger white professionals being more receptive to inner-city ethnic cultures, inner cities have been enjoying a renaissance since the 1990s. |
