Description
Deutsch: Erodierte neogene, Silt- und Tonsteine der Greta-Formation; Auswaschung erfolgte durch fließendes Wasser ("Cathedral gully") und durch Regen. Sehr gut ist die unterschiedliche petrographische Ausbildung >> Verwitterungsbeständigkeit der Schichtenfolge zu bebachten. Weil auf solchen Gesteinsformationen meist keine Vegetation wächst, werden sie - gerade wenn sie etwas größere Areale einnehmen - als Badlands bezeichnet. Manchmal - wenn als oberste Schicht durch ein härteres Gestein gebildet wird - das einen Schutz vor Erosion bildet, entstehen Erdpyramiden, aber diese Schicht fehlt ja hier. Kommentar von Geolina
