Description
English: DAR Monument In 1615, the King of England sent an emissary to the new world, to spend the winter and see if the climate was suitable to colonize the area. Richard Vines landed at Biddeford Pool and spent the winter trading with the local first people. On July 12, 1912, William Barry of Kennebunk, marked the historical spot with a monument and placque.
