Description
English: The 1T57 "Fifteen Guinea Special"; a special service marking the last main-line passenger train to be hauled by steam locomotive power on British Rail on Sunday 11 August 1968. The service ran from Liverpool Lime Street (dep. 09:10) to Manchester Victoria (arr 10:36, dep 11:06) to Carlisle Citadel (arr 14:56), returning from Carlisle (dep. 15:30) to Manchester (arr. 18:48, dep. 19:02) and on to Liverpool Lime Street (arr 19:50). BR Standard Class 7 70013 Oliver Cromwell is shown here on the second leg of the outward journey at Hellifield station at around 13:30.
