Deutsch: Am 31. August 1821 wurde Hermann von Helmholtz, der Namensgeber der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft, in Potsdam geboren und ich hatte Gelegenheit, mit dem weltweit führenden Helmholtz-Biografen zu reden. Sein Name ist David Cahan, er ist Wissenschaftshistoriker an der University of Nebraska – Lincoln, und sein Buch über Helmholtz ist gerade unter dem Titel „Helmholtz – ein Leben für die Wissenschaft“ auf Deutsch erschienen.
